A busy weekend for Knockmitten United saw all but one of our teams in action over the weekend.
Our under 11s kicked off the weekends action with a home match against Granada. Despite a number of chances for Brian Doonans side, they couldn't take any and a terrific performance wasn't rewarded as Grananda were 2 - 0 winners. It was great to Muzzy Lyons back down at the pitches. He has come back to join the under 11s coaching staff.
Our under 13B side were unlucky not to leave with all 3 points as they were beaten 2 - 1 away to Castleknock Celtic. Andre had opened the scoring and Mick Eustaces side dominated the first half but couldn't score any more. Castleknock scored 2 goals in the second half to win the match.
Our 14s secured a last gasp win over league leaders Beechwood. Josh Ryle scored the opening goal which Tony Kennedys side deserved. Beechwood equalised scored with 5 minutes to go to set up a frantic finish but Steve Arkmelu scored with a bullet header in the last minute to secure all 3 points.
The game of the weekend was between Tony Doyles U17s and Dundrum Athletic. Some of the football played was excellent and it was a great watch for the neutral. Luckily for the blues, it was a great result as Liam McDermott and Jack O'Loughlin scored the goals to secure a 2 - 1 win for the side. Leon Plunkett produced a man of the match display in goal to help his side win the match.
Des Connollys U20s side were beaten 2 - 0 by Kilmore Celtics senior side in the Leinster Junior Cup. Despite applying a lot of pressure, chances were few and far between and unfortunately, a scrappy game was won by the Wexford side.
