With a couple of teams off at the weekend, there was not as many games to cover but that did not mean there was a shortage of goals or excitement for those watching the Knockmitten teams.
Our under 11s kicked off the weekend with a 3 - 2 defeat to Brookfield Celtic. In a topsy turvy game, it was the Tallaght outfit that came out on top. Brian Doonan and Muzzy Lyons can be proud of their players though, they have shown a huge improvement over the last few games.
Our 12s continued their good run of form picking up their third win on the bounce, defeating Beech Park in Lucan on Saturday. In a game that saw plenty of goals shared, goals from Zack, Charles, Luke, Daniel, Jack, Tyler and Sulaimon secured a win for Matt Elliots side.
There was mixed fortunes for our two under 13s sides. Mark Mooneys under 13A1 side were knocked out of the All Ireland by Greystones Major side. In what was always going to be a tough game, the Wicklow outfit progressed to the next round.
Mick Eustaces under 13B side also had a long journey but came out on top in a 7 goal thriller away to Howth Celtic. Ryan Lee opened the scoring after Alex played him through. Depsite a flurry of chances for Knockmitten, the sides went in level at the break at 1 - 1. Howth went in front from a corner but directly from the kick off, Alex added a goal to his assist to make it 2 - 2. New signing Temi made it 3 - 2 before Ryan scored what proved to be the winning goal. Howth scored with 30 seconds to go to make it a frantic finish but Micks side held out to secure their third win on the bounce.
Saturdays actions concluded with our senior side winning 6 - 2 against DCU. Keith Archibold continued his good run of form with a brace while Ryan O'Leary scored his 3rd and 4th goals of the season. Stephen Finnegan scored his first goal for the club before an own goal finished the goal scoring for Mark Hansards men.
Sundays action saw our under 8s play some lovely football out in Cabinteely. They continue to dazzle audiences with their passing and flair. Anthony Nugent and Paul Fenlon are definitely coaching these players the right way.
Tony Doyles under 17s side were beaten by St James Athletic 4 - 2 at the pitches. Morgan O'Reilly and Andy Rigney scored for Tonys side but despite conceding 4 goals, Leon Plunkett stole the show with a fantastic display between the sticks. Pulling off several top class saves, including one from a penalty.
