What a weekend it has been for the Senior men's team in the club!
On Saturday, Craig Brennans spectacular half volley was enough to win the Verne Deane Cup for the lads in John Hyland Park. In a tight game, a moment of magic from Ryan O'Leary saw him pick the ball up deep in his own half and drive at the Sallynoggin rear guard, beating 3 players before laying it off to Craig Hanlon who's first time pass found Craig Brennan, who had a lot to do but smashed the ball home to send the large Knockmitten crowd into raptures. Having already secured promotion, it was a fantastic end to the season for Pinger, Hansy and the lads!
On Sunday, Des Connollys side secured promotion with a 7-2 win at home to Tymon Bawn. Needing only to avoid a heavy defeat to secure promotion, the lads finished off the season in style with goals from Calvin Connolly, Jordan Gray, Tom Donohoe and Luke McLoughlin to secure a double promotion for the Senior section.
Two promotions and a cup success? Not too bad from the seniors!
